The area of the driveway andaround the house was filled with recycled asphalt and later the lower half of the driveway was further covered with hot asphalt. The owner hasmaintained a reasonable firebreak around the house. The house itself is a large spruce log home. The lower level built into the ground hasinsulated concrete walls on the backside and 4X8" studded walls on the frontside. The large spruce logs were harvested in interior Alaska.
