Property Description
City amenities in a private country setting with beautiful views of McKinley/Denali, Hunter & Foraker from deck, balcony, interior of home, sauna, hot tub and guest cabin! 3 BR/1-1/2 bath, 2-story home with lots of storage and outdoor living space.
The main floor has a beautiful kitchen complete with dishwasher and hickory kitchen cabins. A laundry/utility room contains the skookum power inverter and batteries, plus a 24 volt freezer and stack washer and dryer. An open living/dining area has large picture windows to enjoy the mountain views of the Alaska Range, all heated two ways: with a non-electric beautiful Efel porcelain-over-cast-iron oil stove and/or with an efficient Toyo heater that uses minimal electricity. A full bath features a jetted tub with shower head.
Upstairs you can enjoy the awesome view of Mt. McKinley from the large master bedroom (even without getting out of bed!) and step out onto the balcony for some fresh air with your morning coffee. There's a large 1/2 bath and two additional bedrooms -- one also has a balcony with views to the south. Use the pull-down attic stairs to access an entire level of storage above!
The large back deck leads down to the ground level and a huge 2-car garage with generator room (& more storage). The generator is a 6 KW Northern Lights diesel, new in Jan. 2011. Pull-down stairs open to full attic storage in this building also.
There's a separate 1-car garage w/oversized door & carport for RVs, with a set of stairs leading up to more attic storage space. A conex on the property provides more storage in case you need it.
A sauna building features two rooms with custom woodstove and water reservoir for enjoying a steam sauna with windows overlooking the mountains. Another option for relaxation is the gazebo with wood-fired cedar hot tub for enjoying evenings soaking in the night sky and northern lights. And, your guests can have their privacy in a 5-sided log cabin with picture window showcasing the mountain views.
You're at the very very end of the road, about 8 miles from the paved Talkeetna Spur Road and just a 30 minute drive to downtown Talkeetna. Yes, you CAN have the best of both worlds. Live remote with all the comforts!
